One afternoon to fall in love with this city. A tram built in the 1930s, a neighborhood older than the country, and a wall to sit on while the river turns gold.
Before departure — Nikita
14:45R. Francisco Metrass — covered, 24 h, around €6 for the afternoon, and literally around the corner from the tram terminus.
Pre-book in the Telpark app for a better rate. Foreign plates? The exit barrier occasionally wants a quick call to support — normal, don't panic.
The route
Start of the line means guaranteed seats — this is the whole trick. Then just watch: Estrela's dome, the impossible Chiado squeeze, Baixa's grid, and the climb into the old town.
€3.10 on board (cash) or tap contactless / Navegante.
Bougainvillea, blue-and-white azulejos, the Tejo spread out below. Ten minutes of photos here, then fifty meters along to Portas do Sol for the second angle.
No map, no destination. Downhill alleys, laundry lines between windows, fado drifting out of doorways. Whatever way is down is the right way. This is the falling-in-love part.
Same line, opposite direction. From the Calhariz stop it's a three-minute walk to the finale.
Running late? An Uber from Alfama is ~10 min.
Daniel & Karo join here. Sit on the wall by the Adamastor statue with a kiosk beer, or take a table at Noobai one level down — cocktails, croquetas, octopus, and the whole river in front of you.
18:00 — fim. The car waits 20 min on foot / 6 min by Uber.
